GEEK TV PRIVACY POLICY

GEEK TV — Privacy Policy

Applies to the GEEK TV app for Apple TV (tvOS) · Effective date: 31 October 2026 · Version 1.0

The short version

  • GEEK TV does not collect, sell or share your personal information. We run no servers for the app and have no way to see what you watch.

  • There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking in the app.

  • Your playlist details stay on your Apple TV. The password is kept in the Apple TV Keychain.

  • The app talks only to the provider you add yourself (and to Apple's iCloud if you leave sync on).

1. Who we are

GEEK TV is published by GEEK Solutions (“we”, “us”), 101 Street 17, New Cairo, Cairo, Egypt. Contact: tvsupport@geek.com.eg · +20 102 266 4335.

2. What GEEK TV is

GEEK TV is a player. You add the playlist (Xtream Codes login or M3U link) you already have from your own provider, and the app shows and plays it. GEEK TV does not include, provide, host or recommend any content, and we are not your content provider.

3. Information we collect

None. The developer receives no data from the app: no usage statistics, no crash reports of our own, no device identifiers, no advertising identifiers, no location, and no contact details.

Apple may provide us with anonymous crash and usage data if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Apple TV settings. We do not receive anything identifying you.

4. Information stored on your Apple TV

To work, the app keeps the following only on your device:

DataWhyWhereProvider server address and usernameTo sign in to your playlistApp storage on the deviceProvider passwordTo sign in to your playlistApple TV Keychain (never written to logs or to iCloud)Profiles (names, colours, Kids setting)Several people can use one Apple TVApp storage; optionally iCloud (see 5)Favourites, custom channel names, reminders, watch progress, “approved for Kids” listTo personalise and resumeApp storage; optionally iCloud (see 5)Parent PINTo protect Kids modeApp storage on the device only (not synced)Cached channel list, titles and artworkFaster start-upThe app's cache; the system may delete it at any timeSettings (language, playback, appearance)Remember your choicesApp storage

If you use Top Shelf, a short list of “Continue watching” titles (name, artwork address and a link) is shared between the app and its Top Shelf extension through an Apple “App Group” on the same device.

5. iCloud sync (optional)

If you are signed in to iCloud, GEEK TV can sync your profiles, favourites, custom channel names, watch progress, reminders and Kids-approved list between your own Apple TVs using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This data is stored in your iCloud account under Apple's terms and Apple's privacy policy; we cannot access it. It never includes your provider address, username, password or parent PIN. Turn it off in Settings › Playback › “Sync profiles, favourites and progress with iCloud”.

6. Network connections

  • Your provider. The app connects to the server address you entered to sign in, load the channel/movie/series lists, load the programme guide and play streams. Your provider receives the usual information any player sends — your IP address, the username and password you gave it, and what you request — and handles it under its own privacy policy. Many providers use plain http://; if yours does, that traffic is not encrypted on the network.

  • Artwork. Posters and logos are loaded from the addresses supplied in your playlist. Those hosts can see your IP address when an image is requested. A set of channel logos is also built into the app and is shown, from the device itself, when a channel in your playlist has a matching name; no network request is made for those.

  • Connection test. The built-in test (Settings › Playlist & account › Test connection) sends requests only to your own provider and your network; results are shown on screen and are not sent to us.

  • Support QR code. Some error screens show a QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat with GEEK support if you scan it with your phone. The app itself sends nothing; WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to that chat.

  • Apple. Apple services (iCloud, App Store, Top Shelf) work as described in Apple's documentation.

7. Third-party software

GEEK TV includes the open-source VLC media engine (TVVLCKit) by VideoLAN to play formats that Apple's player cannot. It runs entirely on your device and sends no data to VideoLAN or anyone else. Credits and license: see the app's Settings › About or videolan.org.

8. Children

GEEK TV is a general-audience player and is not directed at children. A Kids profile limits what appears to titles a parent approves, and a parent PIN protects it. We collect no information from anyone, including children. Because the app plays content from your own provider, parents should check what that provider supplies.

9. Keeping and deleting your data

  • Sign out (Settings › Playlist & account) removes the playlist, its saved password and the cached catalogue from the Apple TV.

  • Delete the app to remove everything stored on the device.

  • Synced data in iCloud can be removed under Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage on an Apple device.

  • Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing we can export or delete on our side.

10. Security

Your password is protected by the Apple TV Keychain. We do not log credentials or stream addresses in release builds. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure; keep your Apple ID and Apple TV secure and use a unique password for your provider.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020, or US state laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its processing. Since GEEK TV does not collect or process your personal data on our side, there is nothing to request from us — contact your provider and Apple for the data they hold. If you have any privacy question or complaint, write to us and we will answer.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change what the app does with data, we will update this page and the date above, and describe the change in the app's release notes.
